Sun Bay National Park in Vieques, Puerto Rico
Sun Bay National Park
Sun Bay National Park is long beautiful crescent-shaped stretch of beach on a large bay. It's less than 0.5 miles east of the Esperanza - the smaller of the two towns on Vieques.
Amenities
There is parking ($4 per day on Wednesdays to Sunday and holidays), bathrooms, showers, and a Café with very good fish tacos, plus other snacks and drinks.
The beach is lined with palm tress and there are some grassy areas with some of the free-range ("Wild") horses meandering around and grazing.
The café and facilities are directly ahead towards the water as you enter the park. The beach area nearest to the facilities tends to be the busiest part of the beach and it can get quite busy on holidays and weekends.
During the week it can be a surprisingly quiet and uncrowded place - even during the heigth of tourist-season (November through April). The activity picks up a bit on the week-ends.
