Nautical Mermaid Charters operates the largest power vessel available for tours on Vieques, Puerto Rico. This yacht provides our guests with unmatched stability, comfort, and safety. It's professionally crewed and well equipped with clear bottom kayaks, snorkel gear, and stand-up paddleboards. These are available on all charters to help you enjoy the turquoise waters of the Spanish Virgin Islands.
Our Mission and Business Philosophy
We put safety first and always strive for top-notch quality service while providing adventurous cruises around Vieques and Culebra. We try to protect the environment in which we work through the use of sustainable business practices, progressive new green technologies, and by giving back to our local community to help foster a better place for us all to live, work and grow.

RIP "Nauti Mermaid" - 41' Lagoon Catamaran- Total Loss in Hurricane Maria
The Nauti Mermaid was a U.S. Coast Guard documented 41-foot Lagoon luxury sailing catamaran yacht. The Nauti Mermaid was purchased in St. Augustine, Florida, and was safely delivered by our experienced crew over 1,400 nautical miles to Vieques, Puerto Rico, in July of 2017. In September of 2017, the catastrophic Cat. 5 Hurricane Maria destroyed the Nauti Mermaid with a direct hit to Vieques.

The Feníx - 41' Classic Crusing Yacht
The Feníx is a U.S. Coast Guard documented 41 foot Trojan Bertram classic cruising yacht. The Feníx is a fully air conditioned luxury yacht with a spacious salon, a marine head, a full galley and a spacious cabin. There is ample deck space to lounge including a large shaded cockpit for enjoying meals and cocktails.
The twin 450hp marine diesel Detroit motors allow us to cruise around the Spanish Virgin islands at optimal speeds in order to maximize time spent snorkeling and playing around on our excursions.
The Nautical Mermaid Charters crewmembers are all seasoned mariners with First Aid and CPR training and with several certifications from the American Sailing Association. All crewmembers are enrolled in a random drug-testing program and held to the highest standards of professionalism and training in the maritime and ecotourism field. All of our charters have a US licensed Coast Guard Captain aboard as well as native Viequense crewmembers. Our crew looks forward to serving you and sharing with you the magic of Vieques!
Captain Jenny grew up on sailboats in South Florida and throughout the Caribbean. She holds multiple American Sailing Association certifications and is a USCG licensed Captain (100 Ton Masters #3540522).
She worked as a specialty surgical nurse in veterinary medicine for more than a decade. She also holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science and has worked at the EPA Headquarters in Washington DC.
The combination of her love of animals and her understanding of environmental science, different ecosystems, and their inhabitants provides wide-ranging knowledge to share with guests. Captain Jenny's warm character makes guests feel like welcomed family members aboard ship. Her nautical experience and her ability to lead and react make her an outstanding seafaring captain and crewmember.
Chief Engineer & First Mate Tómas
Chief Tómas was born in Vieques and grew up navigating and fishing the waters around the island. He has extensive maritime experience on a variety of boats and holds multiple American Sailing Association certifications.
Tómas has had formal training with electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and over a decade of practical hands-on experience. He is a General Contractor by trade and his ability to "fix anything" along with his easygoing friendly demeanor and his extensive boating experience navigating the island make him invaluable to our team.
Tómas is always ready to share his in-depth knowledge of the history and culture of Vieques as well as his expertise and familiarity with the local waters and marine life.
